Sidetable dyD Studios, New York City
As with many of our custom furnishings, this sidetable arose out
of the unsuccessful search for a piece to fit a residential project we were
completing.
Furniture is about scale, tactility, and form. Even more
importantly, furniture is about these qualities in relation to the space and
architecture they inhabit. The sidetable responds to the scale of the
lounge chair beside, the lamp on top, and hand that moves toward. At the
same time, the sidetable is a mimesis of the geometry, movement, and composition
of the apartment renovation that surrounds.
